No Avengers Cameos in Iron Man 3?!
Not even Nick Fury? WHAT?!?! Okay, I understand where Iron Man 3 producer, Kevin Feige, is coming from, but come on! Next year is the start of Marvel's Phase 2, which is when all the post-Avengers films will be released (Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2, etc.) All the films of Phase 1 leading up to Avengers has seen crossovers from each of earth's mightiest superheroes. Hawkeye had a cameo in the first Thor film, Black Widow made an appearance in Iron Man 2, and let's not forget Tony Stark himself showing up at the end of The Incredible Hulk. Agent Coulson and Nick Fury have also made frequent appearances in the Phase One movies. It's been the perfect way to tie all the films together, so why is it so different for Phase two?
The justification that they have already introduced the characters and we've seen the Avengers in action together is all well and good. However, I kinda feel as though there needs to be a reminder that they have each other's backs. I imagine if one gets into serious problems, one of the other Avengers could possibly help that person out. Iron Man 3 sees Tony Stark go through some pretty serious sh*t, including the threat of losing his love Pepper Potts. So why wouldn't his cohorts or someone else he's close to in S.H.I.E.L.D come to his aid?
All I'm saying is they could at least keep up the cameos just for continuity sake. We're supposed to believe these people just went through the battle of a lifetime together in Avengers and then they never see each other again until Nick Fury calls them back? I'm not saying that every Phase 2 movie should essentially be an Avenger sequel. Each one of the Avengers deserves their chance in the spotlight separate from the group, but there still needs to be some level of cohesion. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just my own opinion. :-)
