Nerdy about… horror movies!!!

It’s October, so you know what that means? HALLOWEEN!!!! HORROR MOVIES!!!! AND MOVIE STOP’S HORROR SALE!!!! I’m so freaking excited, can’t you tell?!

Okay, seriously, how awesome are horror movies? I remember being a kid and taking my bath, getting into my warm pajamas, and crawling under a blanket with my mom for a scary movie marathon. I have been a horror movie fanatic since I was like 5. I know, that’s kind of young, but I wasn’t your normal child. I was (and still am) well aware that what I’m seeing onscreen isn’t real. A good horror movie excites you, frightens you, and sometimes makes  you feel uneasy. My personal barometer for what makes for a perfect horror film is if it scares me. Not dumb ass jump scares but chills you to your core, makes you shiver, cover your eyes kind of scary.

Everybody has their preference on the kind of horror they like. Horror comedy like Evil Dead and Thankskilling or religious-themed horror like The Exorcist. My boyfriend and I sometimes disagree on what makes for good horror. He’s regressed into this phase of loving creature horrors of the ‘50s and ‘60s. I’d rather watch all three High School Musicals on a never-ending loop than see those boring wannabe scary films! Plus, every year he sets a goal for October to watch a horror film every day until Halloween. I keep telling him to blog about it.

I really miss my best friend Brandi from college whenever I’m in the mood for horror marathons. Movies were a huge part of our social outings in college (and we have the ticket stubs to prove it.) Thankfully I have my crew here at home that are more than willing to subject themselves to zombie films and slasher flicks! In fact, I think we have one coming up…
