While everyone else were flocking to those trendy yogurt shops this summer, I was heading over to Gelati Celesti: the best damn ice cream in Richmond. PERIOD. If you're going to treat yourself to a frozen sweet treat, why not get the good stuff? Okay, so it's not fat-free, sugar-free, fun-free. It's not like you have to eat an entire quart by yourself! Have I convinced you to eat real ice cream but in moderation? If so, why not get Gelati Celesti?
I discovered this Richmond treasure a few years ago and have been hooked since. My favorite flavor is the white chocolate. The way I always describe that one to friends is that it tastes like flavored butter. Sounds disgusting, but soooo good. I recently had one of their milkshakes for the first time, which are just as equally delicious. A young man at their newest branch off Huguenot Road recommended that I try a milkshake with 3 parts vanilla, 1 part Chocolate decadence. If you're a chocolate lover like I am, that should be your go-to shake when you go to GC.
I'll warn you that their ice cream is very rich. If you prefer bland and flavorless, by all means, go back to your trendy yogurt shops. If you want full-flavored and a party in your mouth, Gelati Celesti is the place!
