Benedict Cumberbatch: My Nerd Girl Obsession of the Moment
The name, those eyes, that shy smile, his deep resonating voice, his intellect, the easygoing manner that he conducts himself during interviews. How could you NOT go all fangirl for this man?! He plays the title character in the BBC show Sherlock and he's going to star as the villain in next year's Star Trek sequel (his character is rumored to be Khan). The man has seen his star slowly but surely rise over the past couple of years. I'm completely over the moon for this guy and he's my newest nerd girl crush.
His fans refer to themselves as "Cumberbitches" but I prefer the term "Cumberbabe". I read an interview where he apparently hates his fans' nickname. I agree with him that the title is a bit disrespectful. I refuse to call myself a bitch unless I deserve it. Allegedly, BC also seems to be completely at a lost as to how and why he appeals to so many women. Do we really need to point it out?! Ok, so he doesn't have the typical Hollywood Leading Man looks of Brad Pitt or George Clooney. So what?! Neither did Tom Hanks, but plenty of women (including me) have always found him attractive. Fellow UK actor Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty in Star Trek, joked about a recent Sexiest Men poll that BC won and how he was "bragging about it." Yet, BC has been quoted saying "I'm not even the sexiest guy in my flat and I'm the only one who lives there!" Oh, Cumby, there's no need to be humble. You're hot and women the world over are queuing up to be your Irene Adler. Like she said in Sherlock "brainy is the new sexy."
